Endless Beaches and the Baltic Sea
Palanga is famous for its fine, golden sand beaches that stretch for 18 kilometers along the Baltic Sea coast. The sea water is rich in iodine and highly beneficial for health. The beaches come fully equipped with relaxation zones, sports fields, and beachfront cafés. Taking a stroll along the iconic pier, which extends 470 meters into the open sea, has become the signature experience of the resort. A unique feature of Palanga's coastline is its regular kite festivals and open-air concerts.
The Botanical Park and Amber Museum
Palanga prides itself on its 100-hectare Botanical Park, home to more than 500 species of plants. At its center stands the Tyszkiewicz Palace, which houses the Amber Museum and its unique collection of fossilized resin. Here, visitors can learn everything about the famous "sun stone." The park grounds also feature a stunning Rose Garden, where more than a thousand varieties of roses bloom during the summer months, cultivating a beautifully romantic atmosphere.
Cultural Life and Traditions
Festivals, concerts, and theatrical performances take place in Palanga all year round. In the summer, the main Basanavičius Street transforms into a bustling entertainment hub filled with street musicians, lively cafés, and souvenir boutiques. Visitors can also dine at traditional Lithuanian restaurants serving fresh fish dishes and authentic šakotis cake. In July, the resort hosts the Lithuanian Folk Music Festival, gathering artists and craftsmen from across the nation.
Outdoor Activities and Natural Beauty
The areas surrounding Palanga are covered in picturesque pine forests that are perfectly suited for hiking and cycling excursions. Sports enthusiasts can try their hand at surfing, kitesurfing, and paddleboarding (SUP).
